What are Fussy cuts?

I remember first reading the phrase in a craft magazine about 10 years ago, and thinking ‘What are fussy cuts? Why is everyone suddenly talking about them?’

As it turns out, it is a term that originally came from the fabric crafting world, and referred to cutting out a specific image or segment of fabric instead of using the whole piece. As these things do, it bled over into the paper crafting world. I realised it was important when paper packs started to include images that needed to be carefully cut out, usually of images that matched the theme of other pages.

I love little embellishments and images I can add to my creations. I’m guilty of build packs of gorgeous little die cuts (far too often). And now I am using digital images too, I spend nights in front of the tv cutting things out. (Well not right now, I have a broken arm. But in general I do).

One of the first pages I designed is full of gorgeous little tags and labels. I decided to share it, and you can get it for free when you sign up to my mailing list.

I have also got some gorgeous colourful dragonfly and playful butterfly fussy cuts in my Etsy store.

Let me know what you think! And if you are new to the world of fussy cuts, tell me what you like? Butterflies, birds, flowers?
